As an experiment, this year we are splitting the traditional Annual Gathering into a less formal Folk Assembly in July and a formal AGM in September.
This years Folk Assembly will be at the Youlbury Scout Centre in Oxford from the 8-10 July. It will be a gathering of Woodcraft Folk members from all over the country where we'll share skills, discuss the things that matter to us and enjoy each others company.
Leicestershire District enjoyed a wonderful 90th Birthday May Camp with friends from Hinckley, Derby, Coventry and Wales. Eighty people co-operated in fantastic activities from archery to zipwire, plus bushcraft, campfires, canoeing, cooking, crafting, cricket and singing. The camp had all age groups from Woodchips up.
We at Woodcraft we believe that all young people who want to should be able to take on leadership roles in a way that best suits them. But what is a leader? A leader comes in all sorts shapes and sizes.
Woodcraft Folk and NCVYS (the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services) are bringing together many youth organisations and colleagues from the co-operative sector for a free day of workshops and discussions on the theme of youth participation. It will be a brilliant chance to find out how other organisations involve young people, and celebrate all the ways Woodcraft Folk and NCVYS empower younger members. As TREE's final big event, we also hope it will be a chance to look back on five years of exciting development work and hand over our learning and resources to Woodcraft Folk's team of highly skilled volunteer Ambassadors of Youth Participation!
Time taken: 30 minutes to play and at least 15 minutes for reflection.

A game exploring war and the arms trade, run by Angus at CoCamp.
Annual Gathering is the democratic heart of the Woodcraft Folk, but it’s so much more than that. As well as celebrating our achievements over the past year & electing our General Council, we discuss future plans for the movement, share skills & experiences, and enjoy each other’s company in true Woodcraft style.
2012 is the International Year of Co-operatives, and the biggest event of the year is Co-operatives United, a huge festival of co-operatives from all over the world. It should be a memorable and inspiring event, and a chance to meet co-operators from countries and organisations we've never worked with before.
